Maureen O’Hara Ure is a Professor Lecturer who teaches Drawing, Senior Seminar, and Visual Language, a course which introduces first-year studio majors to contemporary trends. In support of her projects, she has received many awards. The most recent, a Faculty Research and Creative Grant, will fund a new cycle of work, her response to Romanesque art and artifacts of Spain. In addition to a series of paintings, this project will produce a volume of travel sketches, the fourth book to appear under her imprint, The Hand in Glove Press.
Red Butte Press recently published Stranger and Stranger, a letterpress bestiary composed of O’Hara Ure’s images and poems by Katharine Coles. She and her fellow University of Utah professor have collaborated for well over three decades.
